Let me start by saying that this vacuum performs wonderfully. It does what it is supposed to do: vacuum hard floors and low pile (berber) type carpets and rugs. It is not intended to vacuum plush carpeting, so don't expect it to perform miracles. I have 2 long haired cats and 3 kids under the age of 4 and this keeps my kitchen floor and tables crumb-free. I literally use this thing about 10 times a day, and for cat "dustbunny hairballs" I don't even need to be over the hair - it just gets near it and sucks it up. I was amazed the first time I emptied the filter. I could not believe how much dust and hair it also picked up along with the crumbs. I literally felt like I was emptying my Dyson! The small head is great (you don't even have to pull out the chairs to get under the table) and it maneuvers great around corners and under the cabinets. It vacuums right up to the walls and I no longer have to sweep the cracks and corners out. My babies' booster seat has never been cleaner! Not only is the handheld part great, the unit is also light enough to pick the whole thing up and vacuum the table.

That being said, I will state my "hates:
1. This vacuum does not hold a charge
2. It will NOT stand up on its own

I have about 2000 square feet of tile and hardwood flooring that I cannot vacuum on one charge if I try to do the tables and chairs as well. AND, if I need to stop and pick up a toy or something, I have to walk over to a counter to prop the thing up. More times than not the darn thing still falls over, dislodging the handheld vacuum and spilling crumbs on my floor. If those 2 things were fixed, I would give this vacuum 20 stars! I have had many rechargeables that don't even come close to this, even with its few annoyances.

This is a neat vacuum. Cordless is so convenient. I use it on tile floors and carpet also. Its not loud, its lightweight, its got a swivel head that makes it so easy to move around corners. Its great. I recommend and would buy again.

I have purchased and returned two other stick vacuums (a Home Depot vac and a Shark) that did not perform nearly as well as the Electrolux ErgoRapido. Neither of the previous stick vacs had the suction or power to pick up the pet hair, even on hardwood floors. The Electrolux doesn't just push around dust bunnies - it sucks them up with authority. The sweeper head swivels very easily and lays down nicely to get in those hard-to-reach areas under furniture. I was pleasantly surprised with even the performance of low power setting. It is also relatively quiet, and I can carry a conversation over the phone while vacuuming.

My only minor complaint is that the dust collector is rather small. However, it is very well designed and cleans easily. The amount of dust (not just debris) collected was amazing! None of the other stick vacs removed this much dust. It easily picks up the cashmere-like fur from my ever shedding Pomeranian, which most vacs have difficulty. I will gladly sacrifice a little extra time in emptying the container for a cleaner sweep!

Bear in mind that this is just a stick vac. It does its job extremely well for what it was designed for - midweek touch-up cleaning in between regular mopping and vacuuming. If you need something for thick pile carpet, look into the more traditional powerful upright or canister vacuums.

I always had the impression that Electrolux cleaners were overpriced for average performers. I stand corrected, as I am willing to pay a little more for a product that works very well and seems quite durable. When the time comes, my upright (for high pile carpet) will be replaced with an Electrolux.
